1. Unzip it anywhere on your computer.
2. Mac: right-click "SETUP - double click me.command" → Open → Open again (one time only). Windows: double-click setup.bat → "More info" → "Run anyway".
3. The setup wizard finds/installs Python, opens the TopstepX API page for you, and reads your key from your clipboard — nothing to type by hand.
4. Run it: Mac double-clicks "START THE BOT - double click me.command", Windows double-clicks go.bat. This is safe mode — it watches the market and logs what it would trade, but sends no real orders.
5. Stay in safe mode at least two weeks and read logs/session.log before trusting it with a paid evaluation.
6. Only when ready: bash go.sh --live --risk 75 (Mac) or go-live.bat (Windows) — requires typing a confirmation sentence first.
7. Stop with Ctrl+C, never by just closing the window.

Run step 2 again after this — practicing on made-up prices before this step proves nothing. 4 - RECORD ORDER FLOW — captures live order flow during market hours; Topstep doesn't sell this history, so this is the only way to get it. 5 - RUN LIVE (SAFE MODE) — reads your real account and logs every trade it would have made, without sending a single order.

🆘 Setup help & troubleshooting
Stuck partway through either bot? Ask Genie 🧞 — it knows the exact setup flow for both and every error below, and can walk you through it step by step. It will never ask you for your API key.
Common problems & fixes
"cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" (Mac)
Normal for anything downloaded. Right-click the file → Open → Open again. One time only, per file.
"Windows protected your PC" (blue box)
Click "More info" → "Run anyway". Normal for a downloaded file without a paid code-signing certificate.
"command not found: pip"
You shouldn't need to type pip commands — the setup file handles installs itself. Re-run the setup file (SETUP / "1 - SETUP FIRST").
"Topstep rejected your login"
Most likely you entered your email instead of your TopstepX username, the API key has a trailing space or got cut off when copying, or your API subscription isn't active yet. Fix: delete the .env file in the folder and re-run setup.
"Could not reach Topstep's servers"
Turn off any VPN — Topstep blocks them and prohibits trading through one. Otherwise check your internet connection.
Setup says Python isn't installed (Windows)
Install from python.org and make sure you tick "Add Python to PATH" during install — almost every Windows setup failure traces back to that one checkbox.
